The Modular Weapons System consists of Multipurpose Weapons and Modular Weapon Accessories that allows users to configure their weapons to individual preferences and situational requirements. These standardized and versatile accessories will increase user effectiveness and survivability by enhancing weapon performance, target acquisition, signature suppression, and fire control.
Multipurpose weapons have the ability to mount accessories, usually through a standard adapter rail system or locking system, and include:
- Precision rifles
Modular Weapon Accessories are those components that are easily attached to a Multipurpose Weapon to meet individual requirements, and also that maybe used on different weapons such as shotguns and rifles. The use of standard mounting adapters allows the user to use the same accessory on different weapons which increases versatility, familiarity, and effectiveness and reduces training time and costs. Modular Weapon Accessories include:
- Close Quarters Sights
- Medium Range Sights
- Long Range Sights
- Back-up Iron Sights
- Electro Optic Devices
- Fore grips
- Attachable Weapons
The combination of Multipurpose Weapons and Modular Weapons Accessories allows the user to configure their weapons for a variety of situational requirements including:
- Personal Defense (EDC)
- Home Defense
- Law Enforcement
Components of Multipurpose Weapons that are removable but are normally provided with the weapons in order that they may function, such as magazines, are not considered as Modular Weapon Accessories. And components of Multipurpose Weapons that are not detachable, such as triggers and rail systems, are also not considered as Modular Weapons Accessories.
There are also accessories that may normally be used in conjunction with the Multipurpose Weapon, such as a spotting scope or laser range finder for a Precision Rifle. Since these accessories do not attach directly to the weapons they are not considered as Modular Weapon Accessories.
